Head coach Dunstan Nyaudo takes the team through a session after Kakamega Homeboyz failed to show up for the SportPesa Shield Round of 32 match
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has picked Sunday 23rd September as the date for the SportPesa Shield semi final matches, with Ulinzi Stars set to take on Kariobangi Sharks as AFC Leopards and Sofapaka face off in the second semi final.
Both matches will be staged at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos as confirmed by the federation with the Ulinzi Stars – Sharks clash being the first, at 2pm before paving way for the second semi which is schedule to kick off at 4.15pm. Both matches will be aired live on Y254 TV.
The federation’s pick of Machakos for the matches has however not gone down well with head coach Dunstan Nyaudo who feels the matches would have had a bigger impact for both the teams and federation if they were held in Nairobi, at Moi International Sports Center (MISC), Kasarani.
“We will prepare well for the match, but my feeling is that these matches would have had a bigger impact if staged in Nairobi, and particularly at Kasarani. They’d have attracted more fans and the teams would have benefited from playing on a good pitch as well.
“This is a crucial stage of the competition and all the remaining teams are eyeing the title so we expect them to give their all and it would have been better to have them play at Kasarani,” he said.
Route to semis
Ulinzi Stars saw off River Plate FC 4 – 1 in the quarter finals. Earlier the team saw off Vihiga United and Transmillan FC, while Kakamega Homeboyz failed to show up for the round of 32 clash at Afraha Stadium.
