Head coach Dunstan Nyaudo follows proceedings in a past match. He has lauded his charges for a great performance against Bandari
Head coach Dunstan Nyaudo has lauded his charges following the 2 – 1 win over Bandari FC in the Sunday 10th March Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clash at Afraha Stadium, terming it a result good rest and preparations ahead of the clash.
Before taking to the pitch, the team had a week off after the postponement of the Gor Mahia game and The Don received back a group of refreshed players leaving him with just the job of preparing them for the clash against the league leaders.
After a cagey first half, goals from Enosh Ochieng and Ezekiel Okare settled the match.
Focus, strategy and energy
“I think you can see when the players get a break or rather some time to rest they come back well focused, strategic and energized for a good performance. We also prepared well for Bandari because we knew how they play and we knew they’d try and force us to a draw. We just had to push them to break them and I am happy we got our target,” he said.
Prior to the game, Enosh had gone two matches without scoring and Okare had not scored since the second round of matches. To see his two men deployed in attack deliver the points elated the coach but he pointed out that it was a part of a well planned strategy.
“The whole team played as per the instruction; Enosh and Okare were supposed to keep their defenders busy throughout and that gave us an advantage, because they managed to win balls closer to the Bandari goal,” he said.
Tough run in
Next up for Ulinzi Stars is a game against third tier side SS Assad. The real test however, comes after that, with matches against Tusker FC, Gor Mahia and Sony Sugar lined up; the coach says he will prepare well for whichever opponent.
“I have always believed Ulinzi Stars is a strong team; we are soldiers can take on any tough opponent because we are tough. We will be ready for them all,” he concluded.
