Elvis Nandwa celebrates after scoring the equalizer against Vihiga United in a past SportPesa Shield match.
Elvis Nandwa is undoubtedly having the best season of his top flight career; in 2018, he has scored 12 goals across all competitions – one in the SportPesa Shield and 11 in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) and his rise hasn’t gone unnoticed by head coach, Dunstan Nyaudo.
Nandwa netted his 10th and 11th league goals in the 2 – 0 win over Gor Mahia last time out, putting himself in the frame for end of the season awards and The Don acknowledges that the team has gained well from his rise.
Last season, he scored just two goals, across all competitions and from a midfield positing, he has been the team’s most lethal weapon and The Don believes his form in the season will go a long way in growing his confidence as a player.
“Nandwa is a great midfielder; his passes and his moves are always great and at the end of the season season, I strongly believe that he will be among the best players we will say the 2018 season has produced because scoring 11 goals from a midfield position is not a joke and we still expect more goals from him.
“It is good for his growth as a player and definitely his confidence,” he said.
Nandwa will be relied upon once again when Ulinzi Stars takes on Kariobangi Sharks in the SportPesa Shield semi final on Sunday 23rd September at Kasarani.
