Masita Masuta beats Jerry Santo of Posta Rangers in the match at Bukhungu Stadium on Sunday 19th August. He is a key concern for the Chemelil Sugar game.
Striker Masita Masuta and goalkeeper Timothy Odhiambo will have to be subjected to late fitness tests ahead of the clash against Chemelil Sugar set for Saturday 25th August after picking knocks in the team’s training on Thursday 23rd August.
The two showed signs of discomfort after the day’s session, which involved a practice match against a select team of high school students at Afraha Stadium and head coach Dunstan Nyaudo will be crossing fingers that they will be okay in time for the clash.
“Masita showed some kind of discomfort in the game, and I think I saw the same on Timo as well. I saw a limp here and there but I want to stay positive that they will be assessed and cleared ahead of the Saturday clash,” he pointed out.
The team has been on a downward trajectory in recent times, losing each of its last three matches and a growing injury list will be the last thing on the coach’s mind.
So far, Team Doctor John Imboywa has already ruled out Justin Onuonga and Mark Bikokwa, both who are nursing hamstring injuries, while Oscar Injika and Eugene Ochieng are out with ankle and knee injuries as well.
The only positive injury news to have filtered into the team lately is on defender Cylus Shitote’s recovery from a hamstring injury while George Omondi is also back in training after being withdrawn in the Posta Rangers game with blurred vision.
