After a stint spanning eight months, Ulinzi Stars and striker Elijah Mwanzia have agreed on mutual consent to part ways, with effect from Monday 11th March, 2019.

The striker, who joined Ulinzi Stars from Mathare United in the midseason transfer of 2018 has been allowed to seek a new employer after the short stay at the team, and head coach Dunstan Nyaudo has lauded him for his discipline and dedication.

Top player

“Mwanzia is a top player and had improved a lot with us; I guess we are at that point where we have to allow him pursue greater things, and he leaves with all our blessings,” Nyaudo said.

Mwanzia got his debut at Ulinzi Stars in the game against Gor Mahia on Saturday 23rd June, 2018, which ended in a 0 – 2 home loss, and played his final game for the team in the 1 – 1 draw with Posta Rangers on Saturday 23 February.

While Mwanzia still has room for improvement, Nyaudo admitted that his next employer will be really privileged to have him.

Big asset

“He is a great player, only that our philosophy and style of play didn’t suit him. He is more of a ball player and I bet he will be a big asset to his next team and I am sure he will make it big in the industry,” he added.

Mwanzia scored his first goal for Ulinzi against his former team, Mathare United on Sunday 7 October at Kasarani. His second goal would come in the SportPesa Shield win over Riverplate FC then his last was against KCB in Round 2 of the current league campaign.
