Churchill Muloma in action against a GDC opponent in the friendly match
Ulinzi Stars continued with preparations for the Sunday 12th August clash against Sony Sugar with a comfortable 6 – 0 win in a practice match against Geothermal Development Company (GDC) on Thursday 9th August at Afraha Stadium.
Called by head coach Dunstan Nyaudo, to try and instill confidence in attack, the game served just the purpose, with team’s joint top scorer Elvis Nandwa scoring a brace to add on goals from Omar Boraafya, Hassan Rio Mohamed, Elijah Mwanzia and Oscar Wamalwa.
Boraafya opened the scoring for Ulinzi Stars in the 12th minute before Rio, returning after suspension, doubled the lead with a half volley in the 36th minute and two minutes later Mwanzia made it three, heading to the break with a comfortable lead.
Wamalwa scored five minutes after the restart and Nandwa took over with the last two goals in the 60th and 73rd minutes.

“It was a good game for us and though the opponents play in Division 2, they offered us some good practice. We have been missing a lot of chances in the past few matches so the aim here was to try and instill that confidence in the players.
“While we scored six goals, we still missed a number of chances and we will continue to work on that ahead of the Sunday game. In the meantime, we continue with normal training, as we look forward to a return to winning ways,” The Don said.
The coach will be hoping for a replication of the good show when the team tackles Sony, especially after failing to hit the back of the net in the last two league matches.
