Neddy in as Ulinzi Starlets is born

 

Neddy Atieno celebrates a goal in a past national team game. She is among the 35 players selected for the initial Ulinzi Starlets team

The Ulinzi Starlets Women team has been formed after a successful selection of players following the completion on the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) games held last week in Nakuru.

The team, made of 35 players will have a number of well known players, who have made a name playing in the Kenya Women Premier League (WPL) the top league in the country.

Kenyan international Neddy Atieno who until recently was in Makolanders FC’s books, is among the star players in the team while former Thika Queens duo of Lucy Mukhwana and Leah Muriithi, who have played for the national team as well, are among the selected players.

Spedag FC’s former midfielder Tabitha Awuor also has a place in the team and is expected to beef it up with experience

In the CDF Games, Lucy Mukhwana of Kahawa Garrison emerged the top scorer with a total of 23 goals while Millicent Auma was named the Most Valuable Player and Alice Silla was crowned the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

Midfielders: Patricia Amase, Beatrice Mwasi, Lucy Kamau, Neddy Atieno, Lucy Mukhwana, Linda Auma, Happy Haro, Alice Kyalo, Tabitha Awuor, Vince Betu, Emily Auma, Doreen Shango, Saraha Wasike, Riziki Fondo.
