Njuguna handed national team call up

Ulinzi Stars midfielder John Njuguna has been called up to the Kenya U20 national team ahead of the 2019 CECAFA U20 Championships set to be staged in Uganda in January.

Njuguna, 18, got his debut for Ulinzi Stars in the game against Vihiga United, the season opener at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, having joined the team in November.

He is part of the 36 – man provisional squad named on Friday 28 December by head coach Stanley Okumbi as preparations start for the tournament. The team is set to go to camp on Wednesday 2nd January, 2019, with the tournament set to commence on 14th of the same month.

Njuguna joins midfielder Ibrahim Shambi, defender Harun Mwale and goalkeeper Timothy Odhiambo as Ulinzi Stars players to have attracted national team call ups in recent times after the trio was picked in the Kenya U23 national team for the 2019 AFCON U23 qualifiers.
