Ruto adds to The Don’s injury woes as Tusker comes touring

Oliver Ruto (second left) celebrates his goal against Vihiga United on Sunday 15th July, 2018. He has been listed as a major doubt for the Tusker game

Head coach Dunstan Nyaudo may be forced to do without up to four key players when he sends out the team for the match against Tusker FC in the Match Day 8 encounter at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru on Sunday 20th January.

Defenders Hassan Mohamed (thigh) and Brian Birgen (ankle) have been out for a while now and it gets even worse for The Don with another defender, Oliver Ruto (ankle) joining the list of injured players after picking a knock in training.

Boraafya stays out

Omar Boraafya is also still out of action after picking a thigh strain in training ahead of the KCB game in the second week of action and the coach has lamented at the absence of the quartet, but assured that he will get the right players to fit in.

“It is definitely not easy to face a strong team like Tusker without your full arsenal. The four are major doubts and I am not ready to risk them if I feel they are not fully ready. We have a big enough squad and I will see from those players the replacements.

“It is a tough game but we are confident and we have trained well, eyeing a positive result,” he said.

In the corresponding fixture last season, Masita Masuta scored the only goal that handed Ulinzi Stars a 1 – 0 win. The second leg meeting however ended in a 3 – 0 win for Tusker.
