Oliver Ruto takes a free kick in a past game against AFC Leopards. He has been termed a major doubt for the Nakumatt game
The preparations for the 12th week of the season may well have ended in anti climax with the news that two key players, Oliver Ruto and Dan Waweru, may miss the clash against Nakumatt, which will be staged at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Sunday 22nd April.
The two have been on head coach Dunstan Nyaudo’s watch list since after the game against Thika United last Sunday in Nakuru and sat out the 6 – 0 friendly win over Gachie FC in midweek.
By late Saturday, the coach could not state for sure if the two will be part of the team for the Nakumatt game with the team set to leave for Machakos early on the match day.
“I can’t state for sure whether they will be available or not just yet. Both of them have been carrying knocks and we have been very cautious with them in training; as it is they are major doubts,” he said.
The two have been key men in the team this season – Waweru has played in all the matches in the campaign so far and has a goal and three assists while Ruto, one of the two players in the team who have played every minute of every game, has a goal and an assist.
In the meetings with Nakumatt last season, either team picked a win across the two legs.
