Ulinzi Stars goalkeeper, Timothy Odhiambo has been named the best player for the month of October by the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) and was duly awarded for his performance in the month in a short ceremony at Afraha Stadium on Friday 29th November.
The goalkeeper has been in great form this season and in the 11 matches he has played, he helped the team to seven clean sheets.
Three of his seven clean sheets came in the month of October, for which he has been feted. He was outstanding as the team drew 0 – 0 with Western Stima in Mumias in the month and repeated his heroics in Nakuru as Ulinzi Stars drew 0 – 0 with KCB.
Top drawer saves
In the last match of that month, Timothy produced more top drawer saves to deny Tusker as Ulinzi Stars beat the Brewers 1 – 0.
His run of clean sheets and performances also earned him a national team call up and he emerged first among equals as the SJAK Football Committee voted for the best players in the month.
He was presented with his award, a 49-inch LG Smart TV and a personalized trophy after the team’s training session at Afraha Stadium and he will be looking to take this as an inspiration to Kisumu, when Ulinzi Stars faces Gor Mahia in a Week 12 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clash on Saturday 30th November.
