Trio out, duo a doubt for Vihiga clash

George Omondi will miss the Vihiga United game with injury

The preparations for the game against Vihiga United in the SportPesa Shield on Sunday 22nd July didn’t end so well for head coach Dunstan Nyaudo who now has injuries to five key men to grapple with – three confirmed absent and two major doubts.

Defender George Omondi and forwards Omar Boraafya and Mark Bikokwa are all out with knee injuries while defensive kingpins Omar Mbongi and Hassan Mohamed are doubtful after picking knocks in the final training session ahead of the game in Mumias.

Major blow

George, Boraafya and Bikokwa had all been preserved in the last match, perhaps with an eye to use them n this clash and now The Don will have to rethink his strategy for the clash that comes just a week after facing the same opponent in the league.

”It is a major blow but these things happen in the game and we have to deal with them. The positive part of it is that we have a big enough squad, with very capable players and we will see how we jig the squad,” coach Nyaudo said.

This will be the third meeting between the two sides this season alone. In the first meeting, Vihigpicked a 1-0 win at Afraha and n the second, at Mumias last week, Ulinzi won 2-0.
