After two weeks of intensive high altitude training in Nanyuki, head coach Benjamin Nyangweso has moved his charges to Nairobi to continue with the final part of the preseason program, which will also see the team play two high profile friendly matches.
On Wednesday 31st July, the team will be facing off with 11 – time Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Tusker FC at the Kasarani Stadium, starting 0900hrs.
The second friendly match will come a week later, against newly promoted side, Wazito FC, on Thursday 8th August, at a venue to be communicated in due course.
The team is set to spend a better part of the month of August training in Nairobi ahead of the new season and while confirming the two friendly matches, the club’s Officer – in – Charge, Capt Kelvin Opuko stated the crucial importance of playing sides in the top flight.
“We are now going into the most crucial part of preseason – facing opponents we will meet later in the season and trying to gauge ourselves against our contemporaries. We started training in Nakuru, then went a notch higher in Nanyuki and now we are making the final touches.
“I am happy with the preparation and the coaches have done well too. The players are getting to those required levels and we all believe at the end of this, we will be ready for real action,” he told the media team.
Ulinzi Stars will open the 2019/2020 campaign with an away game in Kisumu, against the newly promoted Kisumu All Stars.
