Players walk off the pitch at half time in the game against Thika United in the 2018 season. Preparations for 2018/19 season are on and the team will face off with Freetown Santos on Thursday 8th November
Head coach Dunstan Nyaudo will test his charges in a friendly match against Freetown Santos in their first preseason game on Thursday 8th November at Serani Grounds at Mbaraki, Mombasa.
The team is camping in Mombasa to prepare for the 2018/19 season and after holding successful two – day trials and training, The Don hopes to see the integration of his new players in the team and he feels this friendly match will give a first picture of the same.
From Freetown Santos, the coach expects a stiff challenge as the Regional League side is preparing for the coast mini league that could usher them to Division II.
“So far we haven’t done more than just trying to build the boys’ endurance and I think this friendly will give us a rough picture of where we need to fasten and perhaps the combinations we can us. It is all about preparation for next season for us and given Freetown are preparing for their mini league, we expect to gain a lot from this game,” The Don stated.
The friendly match is just one of several listed for the coming three weeks. On Saturday 10th, Ulinzi Stars will face off with Wundanyi Combined at Bomu Stadium. The following Wednesday the team will be up against Modern Coast Rangers then on Saturday the team will face off with Coast Stima.
