Ulinzi Stars to take part in FKF Cup

Starting team against Nakumatt, KPL 2018 first leg

Ulinzi Stars FC chaiman Lt. Col Erick Oloo has confirmed the team will be taking part in the 2018 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup which is scheduled to start in May and run all the way to October 2018.

Teams looking to take part in the competition have been asked to declare intent by paying the Kshs 30,000 registration fee ahead of the set deadline of 30th April, with the draw set for 10th May and the first round played between 18th and 20th May.

“We will participate; we’ll be paying the registration fee this week to secure our place in the competition,” he said.

Continental football

The tournament brings together a total 64 teams, drawn from the lowest leagues to the top tier and the chairman acknowledges that it is a key competition for Ulinzi Stars, with the ultimate prize being the chance to represent Kenya in the CAF Confederations Cup.

Ulinzi Stars will be hoping to go one better after falling to Tusker at the final hurdle in the same competition in 2016.

“This is a ticket to continental football and so it ranks as a very important competition for us. I believe after the 2016 experience, where we got to the final, we now have a better team and a better chance to go for the title. We are motivated to better the performance then,” he added.
