Cliff Kasuti in action in a past Ulinzi Stars game. He has been called up to the Kenya U23 team alongside Ibrahim Shambi and Timothy Odhimabo for the friendly match against Kenya U20
Midfielders Cliff Kasuti and Ibrahim Shambi as well as goalkeeper Timothy Odhiambo have been called up to the Kenya U23 national team ahead of a friendly match pitting the team against the Kenya U20 team.
The three will have the chance to impress the newly appointed Kenya national team, Harambee Stars head coach Sebastien Migne, the Frenchman having called for the friendly match as a means to assess the quality of players he will have at his disposal in the coming assignments.
“Following the appointment of Sebastien Migne as the new Harambee Stars coach, the tactician has requested to see the U20 and U23 national teams playing against each other in order to see the available talent which can later be harnessed to the senior national team.
“In view of this, the Kenya national U20 football team is slated to play against the Kenya national U23 football team on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 3.00 pm at Camp Toyoyo,” a letter from the FKF requesting release of the three players stated in part.
The trio was part of the national team in the two friendly matches against Uzbekistan in March, where Shambi and Odhiambo played the full minutes in both games while Kasuti was withdrawn in the 86th minute in the second game after playing full time in the first.
