Brian Birgen in action against Mathare United in a past match. He suffered an ankle injury in training ahead of the Sofapaka game
After making his return to the team in the draw with Mathare United on Match Day 3, Brian Birgen has emerged as a major doubt for the weekend clash against Sofapaka after sustaining a training ground injury in the run up to the Saturday 29th December clash.
Birgen, who only resumed action last week after months out as he undertook military progression courses, picked an ankle injury in training on Thursday 27th December and head coach Dunstan Nyaudo has termed him a major doubt for the game at Afraha Stadium.
“Brian is a major doubt for us tomorrow. It is a big blow for the team because he had just returned and had a good game against Mathare United,” The Don said.
Team Doctor John Imboywa said further tests will be required to ascertain the extent of the injury. Should he be ruled out, the coach will have the option of calling on either Cylus Shitote or Hassan Abdalla for the game.
Meanwhile, Omar Boraafya is still out with a thigh injury while Mark Bikokwa is in rehabilitation after suffering a hamstring injury in the 2018 season.
Ibrahim Shambi is also set to miss the match.
