CDF Cup: Nyaudo on a scouting mission

Head coach Dunstan Nyaudo reacts during a past league game. He is in Nanyuki at the CDF Cup scouting for players to join the team next season

Head coach Dunstan Nyaudo has pitched camp in Nanyuki over the past three days and will be there for the better part of the week as he follows proceedings at the hotly contested 2018 CDF Cup.

The inter brigade games which brings together more than 100 players commenced on Monday 1st October and with Football Kenya Federation (FKF) instituting changes to the country’s football calendar, there will be minimal time for transfers and preseason.

14 teams

A total of 14 teams are contesting for the main prize, as well as the chance to get to feature for Ulinzi Stars and Nyaudo says he has already spotted a few good players he feels will add value to the KPL side.

The coach’s ambition is to pick 10 players from the games, with a key focus on midfielders and strikers but he says he will whittle them down to about five who will then join the team for the coming season.

Fresh legs

“I am looking for a few fresh legs to boost our ranks. I definitely want players who will add value to the team and of course looking at the fact that next season start almost immediately after this.

“I have identified a few players already but in mind I am thinking of 10, who will join us for preseason then I will trim down to five with my key focus being on midfielders and strikers,” he said.
