Ibrahim Shambi is set to miss the Vihiga United game as he is nursing a thigh injury
As the team prepares for the Wednesday 24 April Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clash against Vihiga United at Afraha Stadium, the confirmation has come through that two regulars will not be available for the clash.
Midfielders Daniel Waweru and Ibrahim Shambi have been ruled out of the Round 25 clash with injuries picked over the course of the last two matches.
Waweru picked an ankle knock in the clash against Western Stima and Shambi was forced off the Gor Mahia game with a first half thigh strain and both have been placed on the watch list by Team Doctor John Imboywa.
“Waweru is back in training but still has a week out at the least,” the doctor said. “Shambi is also out with a thigh sprain and we will need a week to observe him. It is not so bad but we need to take the necessary precaution,” he added.
Head coach Benjamin Nyangweso said the injuries will to some extent affect his plans but he is confident of coping with the available players.
“Their absence will definitely affect my plans because these are key players and crucial ones as well. It means we have to do with some changes but I don’t think our midfield rhythm will be affected because we still have quality players to fit in there,” the coach noted.
Heading to the clash, Ulinzi Stars hold a four game unbeaten run and the coach will be keen to hold on to the good streak the side has had.
