Head coach Benjamin Nyangweso has made his pick for the opening game of the 2019/20 season against Kisumu All Stars on Saturday, with Enosh Ochieng set to complement a forward line led by Oscar Wamalwa.
For the1400hrs kickoff, three players will be looking to make their debuts – midfielders Kelvin Thairu who was acquired from Mount Kenya United and Edgar Mukolwe who was scouted from the 2019 CDF Cup. Defender Cyril Nasiali will also be hoping to make a debut in this game, having been scouted from the CDF Cup as well. The three are all starting from the bench.
Head coach Nyangweso has a number of key players absent; deputy captain Hassan Mohamed is out for the season as he is away on military duty while defenders Brian Birgen and Omar Mbongi are out with injury.
Ibrahim Shambi is out on compassionate leave and Churchill Muloma is off for military progression courses.
Nyangweso will start in goal with Timothy Odhiambo while George Omondi will slot in at right back as Boniface Andayi and Bonventure Muchika partner in central defence and Harun Mwale operates on the left.
With James Saruni on the bench and Hassan Mohamed out, Bernard Ongoma will be donning the armband.
Newly called up to the Kenya U20 team, John Njuguna starts on the bench and will be joined by Ali Swaleh, who offers more defensive options for head coach Nyangweso.
