Omar Mbongi in action in a past match against Posta Rangers. He will miss the game against AFC Leopards in the SportPesa Shield third place playoff
In the final match of the season, Ulinzi Stars will be facing off with AFC Leopards in the third place playoff clash of the SportPesa Shield on Saturday 20th October at the Moi International Sports Center (MISC) Kasarani.
The team will however miss the services of five key men on injury and compassionate leave.
Omar Mbongi and Oscar Wamalwa picked injuries in the last game of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) campaign, against Mathare United 10 days ago and will be out of the game. Mbongi has a thigh strain while Wamalwa hurt his left hamstring after coming on as a sub in the game.
Eugene, Kokoyo out
The two join earlier absentees, defenders Eugene Ochieng and Geoffrey Kokoyo, on the sidelines, as confirmed by Team Doctor, John Imboywa.
“Mbongi picked a knock in the thigh in our last game (against Mathare), and Wamalwa too suffered a hamstring injury in the game. They will be out of the weekend match, and join Kokoyo and Eugune in the sidelines,” he revealed.
Midfielder Cliff Kasuti will also be out of the game on compassionate leave, following the passing on of his father on Saturday 13th October.
Head coach Dunstan Nyaudo however has options in three players returning from injury. The doctor confirmed Oscar Injika, Mark Bikokwa and Justin Onuonga are back in training.
