Rio in action against Kariobangi Sharks in the clash at Camp Toyoyo on Saturday 31st March
Defender Hassan Rio Mohamed has revealed the team did a good background check on Kariobangi Sharks ahead of the match at Camp Toyoyo on Saturday 31st March, before going on to win 1 – 0 courtesy of a second half goal from Elvis Nandwa.
The defender says Sharks gave them a tough game, throwing at them everything in the early minutes of the game but he notes that they had resolved not to give away much time and space. And it paid off.
Come the second half, the strategy was different as the balance of the game shifted, with Ulinzi camping in the Sharks half, and Nandwa’s goal was the deserved reward as the team secured a second straight away win.
“We knew Sharks would go for an early goal and we went out with the resolve to stop them and gladly we did in the opening half then decided on settling the game early in the second half to avoid the mistake we did in the previous game against Posta Rangers to concede in the final minutes,” he said.
Hassan has had a huge impact at the team since returning to the starting team. In the four matches he has featured, he has scored a goal and aided the team keep three clean sheets. He is glad to see the team carry home the fourth clean sheet of the season.
Next up is a game against Vihiga United at home and Hassan acknowledges it will be another tough one but knows only a win will calm nerves.
“I am also happy for the clean sheet. We will go on to face Vihiga United with the psychological edge and if we can get a comfortable win there then go to Bandari and get another three points I’d say we are on the right track.
“For now we still have work to do and we are ready for that,” he added.
