L-R Masita Masuta, John Kago, and Doc John Imboywa on the bench ahead of the Bandari game
Masita Masuta’s importance to the team came to the fore yet again when he came from the bench to score the equalizer as Ulinzi Stars picked a point in the 1 – 1 draw with Bandari FC at Mbaraki Sports Club, Mombasa on Sunday 8th April.
The 90th minute goal, his fourth of the season, was the third point – winning goal, scored by the striker signed from Nzoia Sugar at the start of the year, his two other goals having won the team six points, against Tusker FC and Kakamega Homeboyz.
Speaking of his impact in the game, Masita acknowledged satisfaction at his contribution in the game, terming it a boost to his confidence as the season progresses.
“When you come from the bench you have the instruction to go in and change the game; it is never easy so I am happy that I helped the team pick a point. It is the second time I came from the bench and scored and it makes me really glad to have the impact expected of me by the coach.
“Whenever I have the chance to lift the team I will always do that and it gives me confidence to have such an impact,” he said.
The team returns home to take on Thika United in the 11th match of the campaign on Sunday 15th April. The Thika game comes right after a loss in the last home game, a shocker against Vihiga United and Masita will be looking to build from his performance against Bandari.
“For an away game, I am happy we got the one point and as we get back at home against Thika, we will try and score early and secure all the three points,” he added.
