Elvis Nandwa celebrates after scoring the equalizer against Vihiga United in the third round of the SportPesa Shield
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has issued new dates for the 2018 SportPesa Shield quarter finals, pushing the action further back, to 1st and 2nd September.
The fourth round of the competition – quarter finals – were supposed to be staged in mid August, between 18th and 19th but with the new dates, head coach Dunstan Nyaudo can now only concentrate on preparing the team for the league matches in the month.
On the weekend initially set for the quarters, the team will now be taking on Posta Rangers in a league match at Camp Toyoyo on Saturday 18th.
Ulinzi Stars opened its SportPesa Shield campaign with a 3 – 0 win over Transmillan in Kitale in the round of 64, to set up a clash with Kakamega Homeboyz in the round of 32 but the Kakamega side failed to show up for the match.
Advancing without breaking sweat, Ulinzi set up a meeting with Vihiga United, in which the Soldiers had to rise from a goal down to win 2 – 1 and will now face Riverplate in the quarters.
