As a part of explorative measures put in place to expand the Ulinzi Stars touch, the club on Monday 18 November welcomed special guests, Nation Media Group, at the team’s training base in Nairobi – 30 Special Forces Camp.
The courtesy call from the broadcast giants came two days after a friendly match between the two sides at St. Mary’s School, with NMG Sports Editor Elias Makori and the group’s CEO Stephen Gitagama gracing the event alongside club chairman Lt Col Erick Oloo and Lt Col C M Mugo, the 30 SF Commander.
Building the game
In an address to the players and team in general Makori lauded all for the effort dedicated in building the game and sportsmanship in general as he passed his gratitude for the Saturday 16 November friendly match.
He also called on the team to keep a hold on the high discipline and professional standards set while challenging the players to return the shimmer at the club by going for the league title.
”We were very pleased by the friendly match and we really learnt a lot as a team from Nation Media Group. We also hope Ulinzi Stars learnt a lot from us and we hope to do this even more.
”We were impressed by the disciplinary levels at the team and I want to challenge you to now fight for the league title,” Makori, who is also the Nation Media Team Manager noted.
Top three finish
His colleague, Gitagama added to the call, urging players to work for a top three finish.
”You have the discipline and all the tools need to fight for the league title, so work harder and improve on last season’s finish. Right now the team is fifth on the table but we need a top three finish. More good things will come from us with good performance,” he called out.
Club chair, Lt Col assured of a better effort and a sure shot at the set target, nodding in agreement at the top three target challenge placed on the team.
”We are keen on adding to the four league titles we have and this set of players and the coaches are capable enough. We are up to the challenge and we will be back to show everyone that we did it,” he chipped in, with the players reacting in agreement.
The team is set to take on Kariobangi Sharks on Thursday in a KPL Match Day 10 clash on Thursday 21st November.
