No break as Ulinzi Stars pick third straight loss

Masita Masuta beats Jerry Santo of Posta Rangers in the match at Bukhungu Stadium on Sunday 19th August

Ulinzi Stars suffered a third straight defeat in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL)  after going down 0 – 1 to Posta Rangers in the round 27 clash staged at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on Sunday 19th August.

Posta Rangers forward Cavin Odongo scored the all important goal for the hosts in the opening half of the game as they clinched three points to boost their quest in the league.

Once again, for Ulinzi Stars it was a tale of missed chances before ceding further ground in the chase for a high finish in the league.

Disallowed goals

Cliff Kasuti had a goal disallowed for offside in the fourth minute and Posta Rangers too suffered the same fate when Kennedy Otieno tapped in a cross from Gearshon Likonoh in the 17th minute.

Jeremiah Wanjala was well placed to open the scoring in the 30th minute after being put clear from midfield but he shot wide when he only had the keeper to beat. However, two minutes later, Odongo opened up the Ulinzi defence and slammed home the opener past James Saruni.

Ulinzi Stars had a good chance to equalize but a low cross from Masita Masuta had no one to tap home and in the second half a low delivery from Dan Waweru was directed home by Kasuti but Masuta and Elvis Nandwa could not connect with the ball.

In the dying minutes Oscar Wamalwa had the best chance to level the game after fine work from Masuta and a low cross but Wamalwa hit the ball wide.
