Omar Mbongi will be unavailable for the game against River Plate as he has a thigh injury
Head coach Dunstan Nyaudo will be without three first team players on Saturday 1 September when he sends out his charges for the clash against River Plate in the quarter finals of the 2018 SportPesa Shield at Bukhungu Stadium.
Defenders Omar Mbongi and Geoffrey Kokoyo as well as Masita Masuta will not be in action in the clash, team doctor John Imboywa has confirmed.
Mbongi, who scored in the last match, a 3 – 0 win over Nakumatt FC suffered a thigh knock and had to be replaced in the clash, he is joined by Masuta who hurt his ankle in the game, while Kokoyo is out with illness.

“Mbongi and Masuta picked injuries in the Nakumatt game; it was a tough afternoon for them and they are under observation but I think they will be out for a few weeks. Kokoyo, on his part, was sick and didn’t train a lot so he is also allowed time off the team,” he said.
Meanwhile, Justin Onuonga and Mark Bikokwa have started light training after recovering from hamstring injuries and could be ready for the next game, when the team hosts Wazito FC at Afraha Stadium.
At the same time, after a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), defender Eugene Ochieng has been found to have a Grade 3 meniscus tear and will be going for surgery in the coming week.
Justin and Bikokwa should be ready in a few weeks; they have started training but that is still light, while Eugene will be going for surgery next week.
“We hope that next week Justin and Bikokwa will be with us but I think Eugene is done for the season, as he has a Grade 3 meniscus tear and is set for surgery next week,” the doctor added.
