Masita Masuta is a major doubt for the game against Nakumatt on Wednesday 29th August
The squeezed fixture schedule as the season heads to a close has taken a toll on the playing unit, with three key players – Masita Masuta, Oliver Ruto and George Omondi – set to be subjected to late fitness tests ahead of the Wednesday 28th August Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clash against Nakumatt FC.
The three were all in action against Chemelil Sugar on Saturday 25th August but reported some discomfort in training, as confirmed by head coach Dunstan Nyaudo and corroborated by team doctor, John Imboywa following two days of training after the weekend match.
The three had to be assessed in training on Tuesday morning and will have to be observed early Wednesday again before the coach names his team for the clash at Afraha Stadium.
“Masuta, Ruto and George are all major doubts, which I should say is a big blow, because at this time you need all your players available. Over the last few weeks we have had to do with a lot of injuries and this has partly slowed us down,” he said.
However, there may just be some good news filtering from the team with defender Cylus Shitote fully back in training after recovering from a hamstring injury while Mark Bikokwa and Justin Onuonga remain sidelined for the game and will also miss the trip to Kakamega afterwards.
Fully in training
“Shitote is fully in training,” the doctor confirmed. “It is up to the coach to decide on how he will use him in the team for the coming assignments but from my end he is cleared.
“As for Onuonga and Bikokwa, they remain out for another week, which basically means we cannot have them for this game and the weekend one. They are however undergoing light training and we will continue monitoring them,” he added.
Oscar Injika (ankle) and Eugene Ochieng (knee) remain on the injury list.
