Players celebrate Masita Masuta’s goal against Chemelil Sugar at Afraha Stadium on Sunday 29th April. The team leaves on Friday 1st June for the SportPesa Shield opener against Transmillan FC
Head coach Dunstan Nyaudo finished up the preparation for the Sportpesa Shield opening game against Transmillan FC with a 2 – 1 win over National Super League (NSL) side Nakuru AllStars in a practice game staged at Afraha Stadium on Thursday 31st May.
Ulinzi Stars will be traveling on Friday to Kitale for the Saturday 2nd June clash and ahead of the journey, goals from Oscar Wamalwa and Masita Masuta set the team in the right mood for the weekend game, after the disappointment in the final match of the KPL first leg, in which the team lost 1 – 2 to Sofapaka.
The Don is expected to call on his key players for the match against Transmillan despite the difference in experience between the two sides, and he notes that he will not be taking chances in the game and competition.
“Like I said before, we are taking this competition very seriously; our preparations have been good and heading there, we don’t know much about our opponents so we will not take chances in this game. All my players are fit enough and I will be picking my strongest team for the game,” he said.
The clash will be staged at Kenyatta Stadium in Kitale starting 3.15pm.
